Hello everyone, welcome to this week’s edition of Fashion Friday, today we’d be talking about The Impact of Your Image.

Your personal image is an external indication of what the world can expect from you, and is therefore referred to as your advertisement. It has the added benefit of creating a reputation that is unique to you as a person. It is in effect, a representation of you, but the elements of your image are complex and interlinked and must be analysed in relation to all the elements that influence the resulting advert.

These elements include:

  • Physical Attributes
  • Clothing
  • Accessories
  • Basic Grooming

Body Language:

  • Posture
  • Mannerisms
  • Facial Expressions

Communication Skills:

  • Presenting yourself
  • Voice Patterns
  • Eloquence of Speech

Internal Influence:

  • Upbringing
  • Character
  • Personality and Behavioural Pattern
  • Attitude
  • Natural Temperament

  • School
  • Qualifications
  • Work Experience
  • Life Experiences
  • Relationship Experiences
  • Family

Natural Affinities:

  • Colour
  • Style
  • Relationships
  • Confidence
  • Working Style

Your first avenue of communication is in the form of your appearance, and it takes only a few seconds for your “initial message” to be heard. People make judgements based on your image; therefore you need to PACKAGE YOUR BEST QUALITIES.

Clothes, accessories, body language, charisma and personal style play an important role in influencing people’s perceptions and can be utilized to your benefit.

Your market, career or environment influences the image that you decide to project. The basic concept is therefore that you see yourself as a product that must be marketed and must receive maximum return possible in your specific market. Am sure you’ve learnt something today.

Your IMAGE matters, make it count.
