At Teencoders our work involves using computer programming to inspire social change.
The world is driven by, and designed to function around information and communications technology (ICT). Without it no career person can compete on a global scale.
But our educational system is NOT preparing our teenagers for this global revolution.
Many secondary schools in Port Harcourt are busy INTRODUCING teens to basic computer, whereas these teens are already advanced in using touch screen devices, playing mobile games, chatting on social sites and other online activities.
At TeenCoders, we help these teenagers develop this ICT interest and channel their energy by providing a platform that will actively engage them in real life problem solving using computer programming.
We are organizing the third hackathon of Port Harcourt Android App Programming Camp for teenagers tagged “#CodeStudio3”.
This five weeks hackathon camp will hold during the long holiday. It will run from July 27 to August 28, 2015. Venue is 34 Old Aba Road, Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt. The camp is for teens between 12 and 18 years.
#CodeStudio3 will concentrate on developing the teenagers on 4 basic skills;
- Real life problem solving
- Android application development
- Website development
- Computer game programming
- And an additional Career counseling / mentorship with selected mentors in PH.
At the end of the training, each teen participant will develop a project and prizes will be awarded to the best 5 teenagers. These teenagers will also be invited to join the Teencoders Android Developers Academy.
These Teens know what they want, but they don’t have the skills. We have the skills, and you have the resources and the good heart. Let’s make this difference in the lives of these teens.
You can get involved by sponsoring #CodeStudio, register a teenager; volunteer or just simply spread the message.

In everything we do, we believe in challenging the status quo. We believe in the future of these teens, and we believe that the only way to make them leaders of the future is to put them ahead of the future.
Our goal for the next 12 months is to organize #CodeStudio in 12 centres in Port Harcourt, and 4 states in Nigeria. Already Woji centre in Port Harcourt has been fixed, while discussion is ongoing for Akwa Ibom and Anambra State.
We can make it happen.
