Chinonso Writes!

I started blogging in 2012, yet it always feels like yesterday. Not necessarily because time flies, but because I still feel like a neophyte still wearing diapers as far as blogging is concerned. And yes, I am still a learner (with the big, bold, red L)—and there’s just so much for me to learn about blogging. However, I’ve been able to garner two important lessons from my blogging vocation. These lessons sound like commandments from the god of blogging, but they can also be regarded as keys—keys to unlocking the treasure house of blogging. They are: (1) Thou shall possess real content. (2) Thou shall possess real consistency. In other words, you got to have a real story to share and you got to really share it and keep sharing it. Very simple, right? But that’s the challenge…

As a blogger, there were times I had been bankrupt with content and, yes, consistency. I just didn’t know what to write on. Not because I didn’t know what to write on, but because, at that moment, I didn’t know what to write on (no pun intended). Interestingly, every blogger, at some point, find himself or herself in this period—Seth Godin, Okechukwu Ofili, Michael Hyatt, et al inclusive. I call this period the BLANK RUNG.

Just like blogging, we all experience BLANK RUNG in our lives, careers, businesses, relationships, in our dreams. We all have periods when we just lose our inklings to prepare and tell our life’s story, maybe because we lack or doubt the idea ingredients or recipe before us. It happens and that’s why it’s called life. But then great bloggers don’t stop blogging because they find themselves in their BLANK RUNG. Instead, they see and treat that BLANK RUNG as a vital story and they blog about it as well. So could you adopt this blogging modus to your life’s endeavours? You bet! Whenever you go through your BLANK RUNG, take a pause and convert that moment to your story. To put it simply, your BLANK RUNG is also your story. Don’t fight it; just maximize and tell it!
